VISHAY announces acquisition of RFWAVES

MALVERN, Pa., Sept. 10 2004 -- Dr. Felix Zandman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced today that Vishay has completed the acquisition of the assets of RFWaves, Ltd. an Israeli fab-less IC design house, for cash and other consideration. The purchase price is not material to Vishay's financial position or cash flows. RFWaves was founded in 1999 and had sales of $1.75 Million in 2003.

This acquisition has added to the product portfolio of Vishay the RFWaves product line, which is composed of several wireless transceivers, ranging from 1 to 3 Mbps. All products operate in the worldwide-unlicensed band of 2.4 GHz, and offer excellent power consumption and overall cost-performance due to a patented architecture developed by RFWaves. The architecture is based on combining SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) and silicon technologies, thus achieving excellent performance with exceptionally small die size.

The RFWaves chipsets have been designed into several consumer products in the past three years. The chipsets are intended for use in high-volume consumer applications. The current products address the markets of game controllers, PC peripherals, high-quality audio systems, and headsets.

Dr. Zandman commented, "The RFWaves technical team brings expertise in the fields of RFIC design, SAW design, antenna design, board design, protocol design, and wireless systems architecture. Furthermore, Vishay foresees a synergistic relationship between RFWaves and other Vishay divisions in the fields of ICs and wireless design such as Siliconix, Telefunken, the Vishay Inductors Division and, in particular, infrared transceivers, where Vishay already is a worldwide leader."

Increasing its product offerings in the wireless market goes along with the Vishay marketing strategy of providing "one-stop shop" service to customers, and will enable Vishay to offer more complete solutions.
