VISHAY announces acquisition of TANSITOR

MALVERN, Pa., Jan. 30, 2001 -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), announced today the acquisition of Tansitor Electronics, Inc. ("Tansitor"). Tansitor is the leading manufacturer of wet tantalum electrolytic capacitors and miniature conformal coated solid tantalum capacitors with manufacturing facilities in Bennington, Vermont and Barbados. In the fiscal year ended October 28, 2000, Tansitor had net sales of approximately $19 million.

Dr. Zandman, Chairman and CEO of Vishay stated, "With this acquisition, we are gaining access to a niche market for specialty tantalum capacitors which will complement our Vishay/Sprague division and broaden our product portfolio for military, aerospace and medical applications where Tansitor products excel. The Tansitor acquisition will be accretive immediately.
