MICRON TECHNOLOGY announces acquisition of MUSIC SEMICONDUCTORS, Ternary Content Addressable Memory Assets

Boise, Idaho, March 7, 2002 - Micron Technology, Inc., (NYSE: MU) today announced Micron's acquisition of MUSIC Semiconductors, Inc.'s Ternary Content Addressable Memory (TCAM) assets.

"As we continue to meet the emerging needs of our advanced networking customers, these TCAM assets will help facilitate more rapid expansion in our product line and development of the memory solutions our customers need going forward," said Jerry Johnson, Micron Strategic Marketing Manager for Networking and Communications. "CAMs are the preferred solution to perform the extremely fast searches necessary for high speed networking. As Internet traffic and bandwidth requirements continue to increase, Cams will become an indispensable component of the communications infrastructure."

Applications for TCAMs include: switches, routers, set top boxes and wireless base stations. Users include pre-existing customers with whom Micron has been asked to become an increasingly strategic supplier. "The product family is a natural extension of Micron's existing line and in many cases works in conjunction with DRAM, SRAM, and Flash products," Johnson continued. "As volume requirements and cost sensitivities increase, TCAMs represent an excellent market for Micron's core strengths in memory manufacturing."

Micron Technology, Inc., and its subsidiaries manufacture and market DRAMs, very fast SRAMs, Flash Memory, other semiconductor components, and memory modules. Micron's common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the MU symbol. To learn more about Micron Technology, Inc., visit its web site at http://www.micron.com/.
